Ad Astra Observatory

I decided to use some non-point-source light for my first light. Helps when I had to chop the “tubes” twice to get the camera to focus. Running a saw in the dark is not good for fingers.

I threw together a couple of saw horses as a temporary mount to shoot the radio towers on the hill about 5mi away. I’ve found that when shooting terrestrial objects, you don’t need to track the Earth’s rotation as much. Curvature, maybe, but not rotation.

The photo of the scope on the sawhorses and another of varnishing-in-progress will have to wait a

couple of weeks until I get my card reader back.

It’s amazing how small that radio tower looks naked eye.
