And the cow jumped over the moon.

I’m certain that I’ve posted about the Zodiac and the planets before, but to briefly recap, the Moon passes through all of the constellations of the Zodiac every month.

Almost all human cultures see the constellation, that we call Taurus the Bull, as a bull or cow.

I’ve never paid attention to where, relative to the constellation, the Moon passes. I imagine that occasionally, the Moon would pass to the South of the constellation.

We use this phrase to refer to the height of silliness. Dairy cows don’t jump. But I think the phrase is simply to be taken literally.
