I don’t know what to say. Getting the electricity hooked up in the observatory was a real slog. I’d never done anything like this before (most I’d done is replace an old outlet with a new one), so needless to say, there would be things I’d do differently the next time I wire a building for mains electrical.

Every step of the process brought questions about how I was going to eventually use the place, and new challenges about how to get done what needed doing.

But, after I flunked the first inspection, I worked very carefully to fix all the corrections, and passed the second one with flying colors. Oh, sure, I’d love to put in a UPS and more surge protection and a Tesla battery pack…

but for now, Hilltop Observatory has 110VAC, certified by the State of Washington.

I’ll take it.
