Winter has brought a few clear nights, and I got a chance to get back under the stars. Orion is riding high and bright in the south all night, and here is an old friend that’s hiding in his Sword.

M42 is a great testing target, so if you’ve been following this blog at all, there are lots and lots (and lots) of photos of it. I was having a few hiccups in the process last night (guiding was off, as was the mount-computer connection), so 5m subframes were all that I could pull out. Rest assured, there’s lots more crazy nebulosity hidden in there, and once the rig is singing again, I’ll get all of it.

This is a total of 20m exposure, nice to get some photons in the bag again.

There’s one more clear night tonight, so let’s see if I can do even better!
