I had a clear night on my hands and was thrashing about looking for something to shoot. I decided to shoot this target more or less on a whim. I have to say that reflection nebulae are about the most difficult target for me to shoot well from my backyard. They are broadband targets and have colors that don’t necessarily show up well in a one-shot color camera.

But, Cygnus wasn’t really up yet, so I decided to see what I could do.

This is an hour and a half of data on NGC 7023, The Iris Nebula.

Nicely framed, but just a so-so image, really.

I tried for NGC6888 later in the night, but the corrector had dewed up pretty badly. I think I need to invest in dew control hardware. hopefully it’s not too expensive.

Oh, and I need to shoot some flats.
