The iron bar that Coulter used to mount the secondary was seriously tragic. The thing is literally 1/4” thick. That would destroy any contrast you’d get, making a “pretty good” mirror look fairly poor in
comparison. It may be that I’ll want to get the mirror refigured someday. I’ll give it a year or so, and compare images from Trixie and Veronica next to each other, looking for signs of aberrations (I think
Veronica has a pretty good mirror, although I haven’t tested it). If there’s a level of error that I think is really holding me back, I’ll do something about it. But I have a suspicion that the mirror’s probably
pretty good.
