A rare clear night during January. This was shot perhaps a bit too late at night.
I did 2 hours on (what I thought was) The Rosette, see that image for details.
Orion was still high, so I thought I’d plow in a couple of hours on The Horsehead.
It had been awhile since I’d been out, so I forgot to check mount clearance. The scope hit the mount after 23 frames, but I was inside warming up, so I lost 40 frames of this object.
Bummer.
Came out pretty good for only 45 minutes or so, but I would have liked to have seen 2 hours.
I *really* like the diffraction spikes around the star. Focus was tack sharp.
This is the Red channel from the above image. Lots of cool detail in the nebulosity.
