This is going to sound nuts, but try rotating the focuser in a clock wise
motion. Sometimes the focuser, if spun enough, can permanently unlock
itself since it threads itself to the end of the tube. Simply twisting it
back the other direction will more then likely fix the problem. If not,
contact me again and we will go from there.

Subject: AT66 – stuck locking collar?
Hi,
I just bought an AT66ED refractor. I bought it used on Astromart, but it
seems to be in like-new condition. However, for some reason, I can’t budge
the locking collar for the rotateable focuser. It’s stuck in the “unlocked”
position, which means that the focuser can rotate freely (to each end of
its rotation travel).
I’ve tried to gain purchase on the knurled collar with my hands, but can’t
seem to get it unstuck.
Do you have any ideas?
Clear skies,
