Moon at 16 days old.
This is a comparison of 2 shots of the moon, taken on the same night, with the same exposure length, one through the ED80 refractor and the other through the 8” f/5 reflector.

Other than compositing the two images together, no other modifications were made to the image. This is the blue channel of each image.
The photo on the right is larger because of the reflector’s longer focal length. (1000mm vs 600mm)
The photo on the right is brighter because of the reflector’s faster f/ratio. (f/5 vs f/7.5)
In theory, the photo on the right could have finer details, because of the reflector’s greater aperture. (8” vs. 3.1”)
