Here’s a first! There are lots and lots of winter nebulae, but somehow I have never spent any time digging deep into Monoceros (the Unicorn!).
With halfway-decent shots of The Pleiades and The Rosette and The Monkey Head under my belt, I decided to try out some new targets, and I found this one in Widefield Astrophotography (a great book written at the end of the film photography era, which still has some relevance, given my generally wide FOV with the DSLR).
So, what with one thing and another, this is my first shot of this object.

Just an hour of data, I have to go back over all these with Ha, later.
I’ll be back, Seagull. But probably not until next year 🙂
