Every mount has a different characteristic sound to it. The CG-5GT was very loud and coffee-grinder-y. The G-11 spooled up fast and had a quieter but very distinctive whine.
The NJP is something different again. When slewing, the thing sounds like an alien spaceship landing. It’s startling but also very satisfying. The ramp-up is really slow, and it sounds … I don’t know, it sounds like “quality” to me.
I do wish the mount slewed a little faster. But, who’s in a hurry? (:
I am still wondering about the loud and high-pitched whine that comes out of the mount when I have “Computer Standby” turned on. I think it’s normal, but it’s going to take getting used to.
Still figuring out all the sounds from the new mount.
