I always have a hard time getting around to nebulae in Perseus, Casseiopeia, &c. I don’t know why — maybe I’m still chasing the Summer constellations, or maybe that’s when it starts getting cloudy, or… who knows?
This is a big, dim nebula in Perseus, and as near as I can tell, the only other shot I have of NGC1499 was taken *on film*, in *Brentwood*. For reference, I only spent one year in Brentwood, my first astrophotos were taken from that backyard.

So this shot is not amazing. But it’s the first in a dozen years. So welcome back, California Nebula. I hope I’ll get back to you sooner next time.
