There have been a few clear nights, perhaps 4, since I’ve moved to the new house.

At least two of those nights would have been ones that I ignored if I was in CA, since they were “suckerhole” type nights. Here, though, I was out looking up. I only have binoculars and my eyes available, so it was pretty scanty.

The skies are pretty dark around the house. Maybe a magnitude deeper than Newark. Very few neighbors have outside lights on, although the few that are there are both close and irritating.

Anyway, it’s worth mentioning that it’s clear today and supposed to be clear for the next few days. I’ll have a quiet house this weekend, so if I can drag myself out there, I could in theory set up a Dob in the driveway. Or maybe even a full imaging rig. Not likely, but it’s in the realm of possibility.

I would love to believe that I’m still an amateur astronomer. I’d love to believe that I’m still a windsurfer and SCUBA diver, too…

All of these are in the “it remains to be seen” category.
